District of Character
The “District of Character” is an initiative I created to enhance character development and promote daily reminders for residents of the 189th District about how we can create a stronger community without policy changes. No one is perfect, but we can always work to improve our character daily. Click here to learn more.
April’s word of the month is “dependable.”
“A person who can be relied upon, counted on; worthy of trust.”

Recap: HOA Board Member and Resident
Conflict Management Educational Seminar

Thank you to everyone who attended our educational seminar for Home Owner Association (HOA) Board members and residents on Saturday in East Stroudsburg. We had about 100 people in attendance, and it was truly a beneficial meeting for everyone who attended. We focused on offering increased education to HOA members and residents about how to develop stronger methods of conflict management. Special thank you to Middle Smithfield Township for the use of their facility as well as Tobey Oxholm, Nicholas Haros, Esquire, Gene Tick, Tony Campisi of CAI, and Denise Burdge of the Monroe County Bar Association who played major roles in this educational opportunity.

Women in State Government

On Friday, April 7, I had the opportunity to speak to Dr. Kimberly Adams Women and Politics class at East Stroudsburg University about women and state policymaking. The class goal is to bring awareness to the past and present impediments that exist from having full participation and representation among women in our local, state and federal governments, and in the workplace. I hope I helped them develop a basic appreciation of the variety, quality and intensity of female participation in government.

New Energy Efficient Improvements at PEEC

On Thursday, April 6, Brian Fenstermaker from our district office attended a press conference and tour that showcased new energy efficient improvements made at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), in partnership with the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEEA). Today in Pennsylvania, there are more than 62,000 jobs in the energy efficiency industry with annual growth of 7.5 percent. These energy efficiencies help businesses and organizations, like PEEC, to save on utility costs and invest that money into educational programs for students in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
