Rep. Brown to Host Virtual Education Seminars for Private Community Board Members
EAST STROUDSBURG – Looking to shed light on the possible benefits of homeowners associations (HOAs) forming cooperative agreements, Rep. Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) chairwoman of the House Urban Affairs Committee, will be hosting a virtual “HOA Academy” informational seminar, via Zoom, on Thursday, June 17, from 10-11 a.m. This is the first in a series of quarterly education seminars for HOA board members and community managers.

“Many municipalities continue to take advantage of the benefits that come from forming cooperative agreements, which include saving money on area project costs, identifying contractors and more,” said Brown. “Why shouldn’t our HOAs consider these types of cooperative agreements and fully review the benefits and disadvantages? Through these seminars, I hope to provide educational information surrounding cooperative agreements and how they may work to be productive, helpful and hopefully save money, while completing necessary improvements.”

Guest speakers will include Michael Dwyer, Middle Smithfield Township supervisor and Pocono Mountains Council of Governments president; Lou Biacchi, Community Association Institute (CAI); and Matt Collins, Esq., CAI Pennsylvania Legislative Action Committee.

Registration for the event is required. To register, contact Brown’s district office via phone at 570-420-8301 or email by Monday, June 14.

Homeowners associations in the 189th Legislative District will be given priority registration. The district consists of the following municipalities: Barrett, Delaware, Hamilton, Lehman, Middle Smithfield, Porter, Ross, Smithfield and Stroud (part) townships, as well as Delaware Water Gap Borough.
