Brown to Host Parental Mobile Technology Guidance
EAST STROUDSBURG – In an effort to help parents ensure their children’s safety by managing their mobile devices, Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) will host a Parental Mobile Technology Seminar on Sunday, July 24, from 3-5 p.m. This event will be held at the East Stroudsburg University Innovation Center, in the multipurpose room, located at 562 Independence Road in East Stroudsburg.

The program will cover information related to mobile technology and keeping kids safe and secure on mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets.

“With the rapid increase in mobile technology constantly evolving, there is a significant need for parents to have this type of information,” Brown said. “It’s important that parents know how to maneuver these phones and tablets, and for them to have a few tools to help them better understand what their kids are doing on these devices.”

Several representatives from mobile service providers and law enforcement will be available to talk about general technology safety practices. Selman Ali, Jennifer Lorelli and Darian Briemann from Verizon will be covering iOS and Android parental controls. Detective Brian Webbe from the Monroe County District Attorney’s office will cover cyber safety and online safety for kids.

A question-and-answer session will follow the seminar. Parents are encouraged to either bring their mobile devices, or a list of devices their children use including the make and model, and the speakers will answer any device specific questions.
