Brown Announces ‘District of Character’ Initiative
Resolution to make May 22-28 Character Development Reminder Week introduced

EAST STROUDSBURG – Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) is announcing a new initiative in the 189th District, which she has dubbed the “District of Character.” As a way to kick off this initiative, she has sponsored House Resolution 897, which designates May 22-28 as “Character Development Reminder Week” in Pennsylvania.

“My vision for this initiative is to enhance character development and promote daily reminders for businesses, employees, customers and constituents about how we can create a stronger community without policy changes,” Brown explained. “We need to remember that no one is perfect, but we can continually build and work to improve our character daily.”

Brown introduced her resolution in hopes of encouraging members of the House and the state Department of Education to promote character development for the mutual benefit of both individuals and civil society.

“The Pennsylvania Constitution, several resolutions and even multiple pieces of artwork adorning the walls of the state Capitol all celebrate qualities of character which are fundamental to the success of a representative democracy, and I hope to inspire those in our communities to do the best they can.”

This year, more than 25 businesses have signed up to participate in Brown’s “District of Character” initiative. Brown said those businesses have been encouraged to display the virtue of the month in any way possible for constituents and employees to speak about the word and its meaning in daily life with their families. She will also post the virtue of the month at the top of her weekly email blast.
