Brown Appointed to Serve on Two Additional Standing House Committees
HARRISBURG — In addition to continuing service on the House Insurance and Commerce committees, state Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) today announced that she has been appointed by Speaker of the House Sam Smith (R-Jefferson/Armstrong/Indiana) to serve on the House Aging and Older Adult Services and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees during the 2013-14 legislative session.

“I am eager to continue my service with each of the committees I was appointed to last session as a freshman lawmaker, and I look forward to working closely with other lawmakers on my new committees to address important issues facing our state’s seniors and veterans,” said Brown.

The House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee handles legislation impacting Pennsylvania residents who are age 60 and older, including long-term care, Area Agencies on Aging, state benefits for senior citizens and elder abuse.

The Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee oversees legislation concerning the Pennsylvania National Guard, disaster relief, 9-1-1 emergency dispatch services, and state veterans benefits.

“Given our nation’s challenging economy, I’m glad that I will continue serving on the Commerce Committee, which is responsible for oversight of economic development and banking issues throughout the Commonwealth,” said Brown.
