EAST STROUDSBURG – Rep. Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike), along with local students, honored area veterans by hosting an appreciation breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 16, at East Stroudsburg High School South where they served veterans breakfast and highlighted their military service.
“We had a great turnout this weekend, with over 225 people in attendance and 25 students from East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg, Pleasant Valley and Pocono Mountain schools who came ready to volunteer and serve our honored guests,” said Brown. “The students arrived at 6:45 a.m. with smiles and were absolutely amazing. It’s always been my mission to bring attention to our veterans in a positive light, support them, encourage them to take care of their health and have our youth understand a veteran’s service. I have noticed a positive change in support and caring for our veterans in our country and I love it! Government needs to continue to build on support and efficiency of services.”
Local community organizations also joined in celebrating area veterans with Huddle House sponsoring the main breakfast, McDonald’s providing yogurt parfaits, Sonia’s Sweet Inspirations making beautiful patriotic cupcakes for each guest, Kingsley’s ShopRite supplying cookies and Odd-Lot Outlet donating patriotic sparklers to each guest.
“I want to thank all of the local businesses who sponsored the breakfast as well as offered sweet treats to our esteemed guests,” Brown continued. “What an amazing community effort and willingness to support our veterans. Additionally, I want to extend a very special thank you to Tom Ryan, a Vietnam veteran, who openly spoke and shared his experience of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in his life. He gave heartfelt comments to encourage others who may be struggling to take care of their health and happiness.”
